IRMS Conference 2016

Hi again

Shepherd and Yeo re-united!

Days of Future Past: The Seminal RM Handbook… 13 Years On
IRMS Annual Conference, 15-17th May 2016, Hilton Brighton Metropole

As promised last month, I am delighted to announce our third & fourth keynote speakers for next year’s IRMS Annual Conference in Brighton on 15-17 May 2016, joining our outstanding line-up of world-class speakers…

BOOK NOW to join us at 2016’s most important information management event.

The third and fourth of our keynote speakers are the joint authors of ‘Managing Records: A Handbook of Principle & Practice’ – the standard foundation textbook for information and records professionals and a consistent sector best-seller since its publication in 2003!.

Authors Geoffrey Yeo and Dr Elizabeth Shepherd will revisit the book from a present-day perspective to ask:

• What contributions has it made to developments in RM thinking & practice?
• What role has it played in professional education?
• How has the RM discipline changed since the book was published?
• What place does a textbook have in the new world of digital resources?
• What lessons does it hold for today’s records managers?

Join us next Spring to hear from these and many more of the world’s leading thinkers on privacy, records management and information governance – providing you with essential tools and strategies to help you become an Information Superhero whatever your role or sector.

CLICK HERE to reserve your place by 31st December to benefit from our all-inclusive Early Bird rates!

Conference 2016 Banner

IRMS Annual Conference
15-17th May 2016, Hilton Brighton Metropole

I am delighted to announce our second keynote speaker for next May’s IRMS Annual Conference in Brighton, where we have a world-class line-up of speakers now confirmed…

BOOK NOW to join us at 2016’s most important information management event.

The second of our keynote speakers is Ralph O’Brien from TRUSTe, where he is a trusted advisor on EU and US Privacy and Security practice and management. Ralph’s role involves acting as a senior-level ‘translator’ between IT, business and compliance professionals in global multinationals, while developing thought leadership, partnerships and new product offerings.

In his keynote “Hero or Villain?” Ralph will take a whistle-stop tour through 20 years of IRM to question how future generations will view our competence as information custodians and examine how well we are balancing control with innovation and privacy with security.

Throughout the day, you will hear from many of the world’s leading thinkers on privacy, records management and information governance – providing you with essential tools and strategies to help you become an Information Superhero instead of a Supervillain.

CLICK HERE to reserve your place now!

COMING SOON!

Look out for more speaker announcements and details of our first-ever ‘Conference Fringe’ before the end of the year!

Conference 2015: View from a new Exec Member

Wednesday, 13 May 2015

So this will be my 3rd IRMS conference in succession but it will be my first as a member of the IRMS Exec Team. I thought I may be able to get eased in gently and just man the IRMS stand all day but I was mistaken!

With the birth of the Stream Teams I, as eOfficer, was placed firmly on the Technology stream. This is fine, I thought to myself, as I know and like technology so it shouldn't be difficult to chair breakout sessions on this subject (plus I can learn a great deal too). I then get nominated to sit in on the Risk stream with the wonderful Matthew Stephenson and Paul Duller. This is so I can sit and watch how the professionals do it to prepare me for the Technology stream.

This is a golden opportunity for me as I embark on a Records & Information Management journey. I start my diploma in September (with current chair, and all round nice guy, Meic as my mentor) so anything I can absorb before then will help me greatly. I’m almost ashamed to say I know nothing about Risk, people in my office talk about it all the time but it’s not something I've ever taken the time to get to learn. Now not only I’m I going to be immersed in it for a whole day, but I’m on a team with not one but two past chairs! So it’s a double whammy for me really, not only am I going to learn as much about Risk as I can but I hope to learn a lot about what it takes to be a member of the Exec at Conference.

After all if two past chairs and a current chair can’t show me then who can (no pressure!)
