Register now for the Autumn meeting of the IRMS Ireland Group

Wednesday, 30 October 2013

Looking forward to the next IRMS Ireland Group meeting on 14 November in the National Library Dublin, with a busy agenda covering a number of hot topics for RM professionals.

Records managers often struggle with SharePoint deployments which can be tricky for end users and often pose technical challenges for those responsible for managing an organisation's information.  We have a presentation of how the Health and Safety Authority in Ireland overcame that challenge by implementing a SharePoint add-in.  Automated Intelligence will follow with a presentation of their own tool for maximising SharePoint's potential.

We look at changes in the new Freedom of Information (FOI) bill and have an exclusive preview with Zoë Smyth of future directions for the International Standard for Records Management ISO15489, which is currently being revised.

With presentations on the physical storage of records and on the use of social media for social causes, it really is an event not to be missed.

There will also be an opportunity for members to discuss the future orientation of the Ireland group. Having provided information events for records professionals in Ireland since 2006, it is timely to consider whether the Group still reflects members' needs and to set out plans and objectives for the future.

The meeting is followed by the AGM where the executive committee will be elected.

The next meeting of the IRMS Ireland Group will be held in Belfast City Council on Friday 5 April 2013 and will look at issues around Data Protection compliance.
