9 June 2011 - Ireland Group Meeting
The 5th Joint Meeting of Archives & Records Association Ireland and Information & Records Management Society Ireland, was held on 9 June 2011 in the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) Titanic Square, Belfast.
The theme was ''Building a Transparent Society'' and over 50 delegates from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland attended the event. Following the meeting, delegates were invited to a formal tour of the building, which was opened in April 2011.
Aileen McClintock, Director of PRONI welcomed delegates to the meeting and introduced the chairs of IRMS Ireland, Dorothy Quinn and ARA, Cecile Chemin
Dr Ken McDonald, Assistant Commissioner for Scotland and Northern Ireland opened the meeting with a session entitled ''Balancing Privacy with the Right to Know''. Emily O'Reilly the Information Commissioner, Republic of Ireland followed with a discourse on ''Transparency in the Economy''.
Aileen McClintock presented on ''Transparency and Accountability'' Towards setting the standard in Records and Information Management’ and Des O'Loan from the NI Health and Social Care Board outlined the governance challenges for the Health Sector in implementation of an the Electronic Care Record.
