Our first meeting of 2013 will be held on Thursday 11th April at New College Durham.
Our theme is "Record Transition and Consolidation".
There aren't many of us who have not been affected by the structural changes taking place across both the Public and Private Sector. My own experience and feedback from members suggests that Records are often the last thing to be considered or are used as a tool for change without thought for the consequences. This creates both an opportunity and a threat to Records Managers. We hope to support our members in making this an opportunity.
Our key presenter will be Julie Burcham, the Head of Information Governance at In-form Consult.
In-form Consult are currently managing a number of major projects involving Record Mergers and will bring a real insight into this subject. They also hope to bring some of their customers, so that we can gain a first hand account of this subject.
Suzy Taylor will also be providing an insight into Scanning and BS1008 and I will demonstrate an innovative Archive Box that I found on a recent trip to Scotland.
In addition we are waiting for a couple more speakers to sign up.....so watch this space.
In response to feedback from previous meetings we will hold a workshop in the afternoon and spend a few minutes on Careers in Records Management.
Spaces are available but we would appreciate you signing up asap. A limited number of non-members are welcome, so bring along someone new and introduce them to our group.
Comments and suggestions, most welcome.
