The interactive hub of the information world
The Public Sector Group is pleased to announce the dates and themes for the 2015 programme. The overarching theme for the year will be “Records Management, Information Management, Information Governance – an evolving culture”. We are still developing the agendas for each meeting but we wanted to get the dates in your diary as soon as possible. All the meetings will be held at the Westminster Archives Centre unless we can find another venue in London that is as cost effective.
We will kick the year off on FRIDAY MARCH 13th with a meeting entitled “What is Records Management?”. We’ve had several requests to look at the basic elements of records management and to discuss how these can be developed and implemented. We also want to look at the impact of social media on records management and to explore the difference between document control and records management.
Our next meeting will be taking place after Conference on FRIDAY JUNE 19th with a meeting which will focus on looking at selling records management to our users and to senior management. I am hoping that we will have a presentation from a records management user who will help us look at things from the user perspective. I am also hoping that we can look at some of the tools which can be used to help refine electronic systems. This meeting will be sponsored by BoxIt.
The next meeting will follow the summer break and will be taking place on FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 25th. This will follow the theme Physical to Digital. This meeting will be sponsored by TNT Business Solutions and our keynote speaker will be Chris Belekom who has worked extensively in this area in the Netherlands. We will look to cover all aspects of  the physical to digital process which will include some of the pitfalls as well as all the benefits.
The final meeting of 2015 will take place on FRIDAY DECEMBER 4th. The theme will cover looking at some of the legal frameworks surrounding the records management world. This meeting will be sponsored by Objective. As Data Protection plays a large part in that world, our keynote speaker will be Tim Turner. We will be looking at Freedom of Information and other access to information regimes. Alan Shipman will also be presenting on legal admissibility and evidential weight.
As always places at these meetings will be limited to 60 people and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis to IRMS members until 2 weeks before the event when we offer any spare places to allcomers. Corporate members are welcome to send up to 5 members to a meeting.
