28th October 2016
New Register House, Edinburgh
09.30 - 16.30
Following on from the last event to promote IRM and re-branding the records manager to #lookthepart, we are now offering a day dedicated to you and your development to #bethepart
Our recent survey highlighted an interest in finding out more about CPD and accreditation so we’ve put together a fantastic line-up of speakers to tell you all about what’s on offer. It’s also an opportunity to discuss particular requirements which are maybe not met at present, and hear about each other’s experiences in skills which might not be traditionally IRM, but help us do our job.
We are lucky to have four universities in Scotland offering information management courses, and all four have agreed to attend our event. Some of the universities already offer flexible learning and others are considering it, so we hope it’s an opportunity to discuss how this could help those who don't necessarily want a formal qualification, but are interested in particular areas for CPD, and also help those who do want a formal qualification. As many of you know IRMS offers an accreditation programme and we'll find out more about that, and others which are available. We also have an opportunity to hear about some of the other skills we come into contact with as information professionals, specifically, business analysis. So much of the creation of records is about business processes, so understanding how these can be analysed is a useful skill. Finally, tying in with this is our sponsor for the day, Canon, who will be talking to us about capturing data at the point of origin.
The Society offers four types of membership, from Corporate through to Student.
If you are not already a member and would like to join the Society, or if you know anyone who would be interested in joining, please complete the application form.
