Roger Poole, the IRMS's Professional Standards Director, has been working with a British Standards Institution Committee to develop a new BS10025 British Standard on Records Management. This standard gives recommendations for the effective management of an organization's records produced as a by-product of its operations or activities, and will apply to records irrespective of the media or format used to create and store them or the type of information they contain.
This standard is now in its final draft and is out for public consultation, and the Committee welcomes feedback from all those responsible for managing records, regardless of the size of the organization or the field. It can be found at: https://standardsdevelopment.bsigroup.com/projects/2020-00710#/section.
You are invited to review the draft and provide your feedback in the manner requested on the BSI website - it will be available for comment until 4th January 2021.
With a bi-monthly magazine, annual conference, accreditation possibilities and a competitively priced annual membership, there really is no reason why you shouldn't join this fantastic society!
