New RM Code of Practice for Health and Social Care published
The Information Governance Alliance (IGA) is delighted to announce the publication of the new Records Management Code of Practice
for Health and Social Care 2016.
The IGA was asked by the Department of Health at the end of 2014 to lead a long-awaited review of the Code of Practice. A project group of records managers and information governance specialists from across health and social care - including IRMS Training and Representation Director Emily Overton - has been working together over the past 18 months to quality-assure and (where necessary) make changes to existing guidance.
The new Code provides answers to common questions about records management that have been asked to the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC – NHS Digital from 01 August 2016), the National Archives and the Department of Health since 2009. The Code also includes changes to policy and legislation where applicable and has incorporated the evolution of the digital health record.
The IRMS is pleased to have supported this important work, and our involvement demonstrates our commitment to representing our members in - and contributing to - the development of the profession.
