Accessibility Statement

This is an Accessibility Statement for the Information and Records Management Society (IRMS) website – https://irms.org.uk/

It seeks to explain how the website is AAA compliant, and potential shortcomings that are beyond IRMS full control.

Who are ‘we’?

When we outline to you how we take care of your data you’ll notice we use the words ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’. This means we are referring to The Information & Records Management Society Ltd (IRMS) . We are a limited company registered in England & Wales under company reference 12914034. We are also registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration number Z8774506.

We are, in almost all circumstances, the ‘Controller’ of your personal data. We are responsible for taking care of your data and ensuring that anyone we work with, who might need to access your data, also takes care of it and follows our rules. If there is ever a situation where another organisation or person is the Controller of your data, we will let you know.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance:

  • Level A,
  • Level AA, and
  • Level AAA.

The IRMS website, irms.org.uk is fully conformant with WCAG 2.2 guidelines for Level AAA. Fully conformant means that the content fully conforms to the accessibility standard without any exceptions.

Compatibility with Browsers, Devices and Operating Systems

The IRMS website, https://irms.org.uk is designed to be compatible with the following website browsers:

  • Google Chrome,
  • Microsoft Edge,
  • Apple Safari, and
  • Other commonly used website browsers.

This website has been tested using the following devices:

  • Windows Laptops,
  • Chromebooks, and
  • Mac Computers (mac OS).

This website has been tested using using mobile devices,

  • Mobile phones, that use the following operating systems Android, and iOS for phones.
  • Tablets , that use the Android Operating system.
  • Apple iPads which use the iPadOS operating system.

It is not possible to test the website on every combination of device and operating system. The IRMS website, https://irms.org.uk  may not compatible with combinations of older:

  • Older devices, and
  • Older operating systems.

Technical Specifications

The IRMS website has been developed using WordPress. Plugins have been used to:

  • Ensure the smooth operation of the website,
  • Website security,
  • Search Engine Optimisation,
  • Searching content,
  • Operating a webform,
  • Usage statistics.

The website is being maintained by a partner who is responsible for day-to-day maintenance and optimisation of the website. For more information please contact the IRMS using the contact details below.

Accessibility of IRMS website, https://irms.org.uk relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • PHP
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Limitations

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the IRMS website,https://irms.org.uk , there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Content provided by third parties: Presentations and other documents, such as PowerPoint presentations, PDF documents and Excel spreadsheets.

  • The IRMS cannot be responsible for contributors’ compliance with WCAG Guidelines, for example use of their own company branding, e.g. colours and fonts.
  • The IRMS will ask contributors to be mindful of our websites WCAG compliance
  • We will work with contributors to help us provide the best service we can for all of our website users.
  • This site is believed to be compliant with major screen readers, (e.g. JAWS, NVDA,  and VoiceOver), and other assistive technologies. However we were not able to complete full testing.
