Morning Sessions (2)
Scott Sammons, Lighthouse IG “Global Data Protection - is the UK going in the wrong direction?”
International Data Protection standards are not just things for big businesses or law firms to concern themselves with. Where the world is going on Data Protection plays a big part for any international data transfers your organisation is doing, and lots of organisations do them. So we are going to look at the wider world of Data Protection laws through 2 lenses.
1, Why does this apply to me and why should I be bothered
2, UK vs the world
During this session we will therefore explore:
- When international transfers kick in and what the requirements are
- What resourses are available to help
- Overview of laws across the globe
- Comparison against the proposed DP&DI Bill

Phillipa Nazari, Director of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer, British Business Bank "Data Protection to my 8 year old!" What does data protection mean to my 8 year old? In the age of ever increasing global digitilisaiton are we doing enough to educate the global population and create a workforce up to upholding the rights of citizens through the use of data protection and privacy laws.

'Small acts - big impact'
The world of compliance is increasingly complex and fast moving. In the face of the global challenges we all face in this area, there is a risk that we start to feel disconnected or disempowered.
Getting beyond clichés, what are some of the practical ways we can help engage, influence and empower those around us to encourage positive change around information governance, regardless of our job title or size of organisation?

Speed Networking
A social event where participants meet many colleagues in a fixed amount of time. The term “speed” rightly describes this event because during this time, you will be split into two groups and spending 3 minutes talking to colleagues and learning more about what they do. You will meet people in the same job as you, or consultants, speakers or potential suppliers. You may swap details if you wish to continue conversations but otherwise have 3 minutes to make an impression before moving onto the next networker. The aim of Speed Networking is to ensure you get the most out of the networking opportunity by speaking to everyone in the room. You can then continue those conversations at lunch.
Bring a notebook and pen as you’ll need to jot down details or prompts for memory. At the end of every 3 minutes, 1 group of people will be asked to move seats.

Afternoon sessions (2)
Tim Turner, Privapreneur, 2040 Training
Risky Business: wrestling with transfer risk assessments In another fine mess that Max Schrems has gotten us into, some transfer mechanisms aren’t enough by themselves. Got those clauses safely bundled into your contract with a niche overseas supplier? Who cares? Now you have to risk assess the human rights situation in Mozambique! TRAs aren’t impossible but they’re tricky; I’ll give you a tour of the ICO’s guidance.
