Fellowship Nominations Now Open!
Fellowship is the senior degree of IRMS membership. It is awarded to those members of ten years or more standing in the industry and who have, in the opinion of their peers, attained appropriate eminence, authority or seniority. Non-members of the Society don’t miss out either because if they are suitable, they can be awarded ‘honorary’ fellowships.
Who is eligible for nomination?
Fellowship or Honorary Fellowship may be awarded if one or more of the following criteria are met:
Eminence: This individual is recognised and acknowledged across the IM/RM sector and beyond. They may have broad knowledge or be an acknowledged expert in a particular field. They have made a significant contribution to the sector and its perception by the public.
Authority: an authoritative individual, recognised and respected for their knowledge and expertise in the sector, or has contributed to the development and perception of the IRMS or IM/RM sector.
Seniority: typically, an individual in a senior position with a range of experience with, or has had, responsibility for a large project or project design.
Nominees for fellowship will have a minimum of ten years’ practitioner experience in the IM/RM sector. Nominees for honorary fellowship don’t necessarily need to meet this criteria (but it helps).
How do I nominate someone?
Nomination is easy peasy and simply requires you and another member of the Society to each write a brief statement in support of a nomination of someone.
- Think of someone you know who you think might be eligible and would appreciate this honour – not everyone wants to be recognised!
- You must inform the person you are nominating, and they must agree before a nomination is submitted (otherwise it can be a bit awkward for all concerned)
- Each of the two members nominating will create a supporting statement of between 200 and 250 words. The College of Fellows might not know the person, so make it good!
- Your completed nomination should then be submitted by email to fellowships@irms.org.uk by midnight on the 20th February 2026.
What happens after I nominate?
All valid nominations will be voted upon by the College of Fellows – the body comprising all current fellows and honorary fellows. Full details of the voting process can be found at Fellowship – IRMS where you can also find a list of our current fellows for some possible inspiration.
