About KARMA
KARMA is a non-profit professional organisation established in October 2010. It serves as the official body for individuals working in or interested in records and archives management in Kenya. The association’s mission is to promote education, research, and innovation in the field, maintain a register of certified professionals, and foster collaboration between public and private institutions.
Why This Partnership Matters
KARMA plays a critical role in professionalising records and archives management in Kenya, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and innovation in information governance. By creating a strong community for knowledge sharing and career growth, it helps advance global standards and best practices. This partnership with IRMS amplifies these efforts, connecting professionals across continents to share expertise and drive excellence.
Purpose of the MoU
The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration between IRMS and KARMA, focusing on:
- Capacity Building: Strengthening cooperation in training, research, and professional development.
- Knowledge Sharing: Promoting professional excellence through exchange of ideas and resources.
- Advocacy: Enhancing the visibility and value of records and information management worldwide.
A Shared Commitment to Digital Sustainability
As part of this collaboration, IRMS Vice Chair of External Engagement, Ren Leming, delivered a keynote address at KARMA’s annual conference in November. The theme, Digital Sustainability, highlighted the importance of resilient, future-proof strategies for managing information in an increasingly digital world.
