Records are key for accountability purposes; decisions we make in relation to retention, appraisal, chain of custody, security and access, and active intervention into records management systems, arguably lead to ‘trustworthy’  records, leading to trustworthy and evidential archives.

In relation to accountability, this webinar will look at experience as part of the Hillsborough Investigation at IOPC in relation to provenance and evidential  requirements within the legal sector, and how (and whether) the record keeping profession assists within this. It will also touch on police record keeping and the UK Government response to the Bishop James report in relation to the Public Records Act 1958.
