Manchester Metropolitan University has recently completed a 14-month project to decommission a huge legacy network file share and migrate the necessary content into governed M365 areas. Information lifecycle management considerations were a key driver for the work, and at all times kept at the heart of the project, which was sponsored by the CISO and run through the IT & Digital Team. This session will focus on how we educated and empowered our staff to delete 73% of the content, the approach we took to implementing a basic level of governance into M365, and our next steps for building on this and delivering on specific team requirements for automated retention.
