As more integrated approaches for managing healthcare are rolled out through Integrated Care Programmes and broader population heath management approaches, the ability to link data and records from different sectors for improved planning and care delivering is key.  This does, however, pose various information management and information governance challenges which many areas are now having to consider.

This session talks through some of these challenges and a potential step by step approach to implementing linked datasets and will give participants the opportunity to provide their views on current challenges in this area and potential solutions to these.  This session will be presented by Helen McElroy, a Senior Information Governance Specialist who has worked in and with the NHS and local authorities at a local, regional and national level for the last 22 years and is currently supporting the development of national guidance on data linkage approaches for integrated care systems
