Records Management Toolkit for Schools – Module 1 – Volunteers needed!

The Records Management Toolkit for Schools – Module 1 is now due for review. This is a core offering from the IRMS to schools and is widely used across the country. We have had a lot of enquiries about whether the toolkit is compliant with GDPR, so the plan is to undertake a full review to identify which parts of the toolkit need to be completely updated and remodelled, as well as a review of the retention schedule. Some of the fact sheets and how to guides have not been fully reviewed for a number of years. In order to complete this work a group of volunteers are needed who would be prepared to assist with this. All contributions will be acknowledged. I need volunteers to assist with the following:

• To complete a review of the fact sheets and how to guides and to either create new guides or create additional content.

• To complete review of the retention schedule – to check that the retention periods are fit for purpose, to look at additions and to look at deletions

• To proof read the draft and final versions ready for publication.

Ideally the work would start towards the end of September, so if you would be prepared to offer to help with this project, could you email Elizabeth.barber@kent.gov.uk by 9th September, and let her know which part of the project you would be prepared to be involved with. Once there is an idea of how many volunteers will be contributing she will put together a project plan and parcel out the work. It would be good to have the finished version ready for publication in January 2019.
