Are you aware of the new DP & IG apprenticeships?

There are many different ways into our fabulous profession. One of the aims of the Society is to encourage and promote all the various ways that someone can become an information professional. We therefore have some brilliant news that after much work by a trailblazer group there is a new Apprenticeship scheme up and running in England & Wales.

The Data Protection and Information Governance Practitioner Apprenticeship scheme is a level 4 apprenticeship now officially recognised and promoted by the Government’s apprenticeships programme. Covering a range of duties and skills to do with all things Data Protection and Information Governance, apprentices on the scheme can gain a valuable foothold and career path into the profession.

Funding is available through the scheme and all details can be found on the Apprenticeships website, links to which we have collated below.  

As a Society we are delighted to be the listed ‘supporting professional body’ for this specific apprenticeship, therefore those going through the programme are eligible for free IRMS membership and will be encouraged and supported to become professional members when they qualify.
