To coincide with Volunteers' Week 2023, we are pleased to announce that we have 3 varied roles available on our Executive team, along with a number of opportunities to lead one of our
geographic and special interest groups.
Each Exec role (detailed below) requires approximately 2-3
hours per week and is supported by at least one Director or Trustee on the Exec
team.
Conference Officer
* UPDATE 07 Jun: This role is no longer available. * We're looking for a Conference Officer who will
undertake specific tasks in relation to the effective delivery of the renowned
annual IRMS Conference. This includes supporting the Conference Director and
liaising with our events partner, Revolution Events.
Activities involved in this role include: - Assisting in the programme development including theme and speakers
- Supporting the planning of conference social events including the Gala Dinner
- Review and approval of draft Conference marketing emails and adverts
- Attending monthly online meetings of the Conference Working Group
Data Protection and Digital Officer
This important and dynamic role is responsible for
monitoring and overseeing the IRMS's data protection compliance, and also
supporting the Digital Director in maintaining our online services and
offerings including the website and other digital media.
Activities undertaken in this role include: - Advising the organisation and its volunteers on their data protection obligations
- Monitoring the organisation's compliance with data protection law and its own internal policies and procedures
- Providing back-end support for the IRMS website and integrated membership database provided by YourMembership
- Working collaboratively across the IRMS Executive to support other team members in various digital activities
Finance Officer
The new role of Finance Officer is a good opportunity for
someone looking to gain financial experience and skills for their current or
future work. So while experience working with financial operations is useful,
it is not essential.
Activities involved in this role include: - Assisting IRMS volunteers with financial queries (for example on any expenses)
- Entering, reviewing and approving items in DEXT (our expenses system)
- Preparing monthly financial reports for the Trustees and Executive
- Liaising with and overseeing any operations performed by our administrators
For more information about any of these roles, visit www.IRMS.org.uk/OurVacancies
– where you’ll also find out about some of the benefits of volunteering with
the IRMS. To ask any questions and to apply email the relevant member of our team, as follows:
Group Chairs Would you like to get involved in leading one of our geographic or special interest groups? The groups play a key role in engaging with IRMS members including through organising webinars and in-person events (in which you would receive full support from fellow team members). Being a group chair is an ideal way to try out volunteering with the IRMS, with the option to take advantage of other volunteering opportunities that arise. We are looking for new chairs for the following groups: - Midlands
- North
- Scotland
- South West
- Wales
- Digital Preservation
- Schools
- Third Sector
For information and an informal chat about these roles, email our Groups Director, Suzy Taylor.
