IRMS Skills Matrix Update

We have been talking about the skills matrix for a few months now. After some great feedback on the draft and input from key stakeholders we are now ready to launch!

Version 1.0 is now available to members in the Skills Matrix area of the website. It is currently in excel format, but we are planning to change that in the future as part of the matrix's development.

You’ll notice that we have made some edits to the matrix based on the feedback from members, and there are some empty tabs to reflect that these skills are coming and on the development plan.

With that in mind, we have some actions for you!

• Take a look at the skills matrix and, if you haven’t already, start to think about how the matrix can help you write your own development plan.
  

•  If you haven’t already, show the matrix to your employer and colleagues and see if it's something they could also use to develop themselves and their career.

•   Consider getting involved in the working group to develop the matrix further.
  

Just like any of the other skills frameworks out there, we want to develop this matrix over time based on the needs of the profession and our members. Therefore, it will need a working group made up of members to develop it further.

If you feel you can give an hour or 2 a month to input into its development, then contact skillsmatrix@irms.org.uk to apply to be part of the working group. We are particularly interested in those who would like to adopt this in their own organisation and those that have worked with skills development before.
