IRMS becomes carer of FOIman materials

We have some exciting news for you. 😁

For those members in the public sector, you may have heard of Paul Gibbons and his alias, FOIMan. Paul announced on twitter late last year that due to a change in his circumstances he would be giving up FOIMan.

Our Interim Treasurer, Scott Sammons, saw this and immediately reached out to Paul as the guidance material Paul has created over the years has been invaluable to FOI practitioners. Like many people, Scott has used it many times and refers people to it all the time.

We therefore asked Paul if he would be willing to let the IRMS take on care and ownership of all those previous materials stored on www.foiman.com.

We are pleased to confirm that he said yes, and we have now reached an agreement to keep all that material live and available to practitioners for the foreseeable future. 🎉

The materials available to practitioners can assist with developing your skills in FOI & EIR so if you have not seen them yet, please do head over to www.foiman.com. There are tonnes of things there, including details of how you can purchase Paul’s book titled ‘how to be a Freedom of Information Officer’.

The site will therefore continue to exist for the next year or so. After which we will consult with Paul to agree a plan to update or archive the material across to the IRMS website so practitioners in FOI and EIR can still get hold of the invaluable material.
