2021 Executive Elections

2021 Marketing Director Election

As a result of the 2021 Executive Nominations process, 2 candidates have confirmed that they wish to run for the role of Marketing Director. In accordance with the IRMS Constitution, we are therefore running an election to decide who the successful candidate should be.

How it works:

From 11th February 2021 all IRMS members can cast their vote in the election for a Marketing Director. Members therefore can review this webpage to find out more about each candidate and then cast their vote online for their preferred candidate.

The vote closes on 5th March 2021 at which point the votes cast will be counted and verified. Once confirmed the successful candidate will be announced and they will be appointed to the role as of the AGM in May 2021.

Candidates can canvass members via SocialLink and personal social media to promote engagement and support for their candidacy. Candidates have also completed a survey of their history, vision for the role and any declared interests to help members decide.

If either candidate acts in any way that would be considered a breach of the IRMS Constitution, Standing Orders or any of the Society's policies or standards their candidacy may be voided.

The Marketing Director role:

The role is a Director of the IRMS. Directors are typically responsible for a specific area of the running of the Society in order to support the role and responsibilities of the Constitutional Officers.

This Director post has the specific remit of supporting the development and operation of the IRMS Marketing. They are charged with managing, co-ordinating and delivering the marketing activities of the Society

Andrew Harvey

Andrew has been Group Head of Information Governance / Data Protection Officer for one, then two, NHS Trusts in Sussex since April 2015. He is responsible for the safe, effective and legal curation and use of their patients’ data. He is also an independent trainer and consultant in the same space, generally working with companies outside Sussex.

Like many, finding his love for Information Governance was through serendipity, beginning in 2011 following redundancy from elsewhere in NHS Information Services. He has very much found his niche, however, having worked with independent sector healthcare providers as well as commissioners.

By virtue of his current role, Andrew has been elected Chair of both the Sussex-Wide Information Governance Group (in October 2015) and the National Health and Social Care Strategic Information Governance Network (in July 2018). He strives in these roles to network and influence national Information Governance policy and procedure in support of practitioners in the field working in the regions, and the best outcomes for patients and services users.

A Fellow of the IRMS, and winner of its 2018 Author of the Year Award, Andrew works continually to improve his knowledge, and is currently in the final year of his LLM in Information Rights Law and Practice at Northumbria University, writing a dissertation on the impact of the GDPR on Data Protection Accountability. There is also the writing of a book on NHS Information Governance bubbling in the background.

Away from work he is a keen fan of Doctor Who (‘the old stuff, the proper stuff’, he says) and lives in West Sussex with his wife and pigeon pair of toddler twins.
